Concrete, timber and glass on the hillside of El Madroñal
The project
Villa Madroñal 14 is set into a hillside in El Madroñal, Benahavís, among cork oaks and with open views across the valley. It is a contemporary villa in fair-faced concrete, timber and glass, with bold cantilevers and an X-braced steel structure left deliberately on show.
The build
The house is arranged around landscaped courtyards that bring the planting indoors, alongside a living wall that rises beside the timber staircase. Floor-to-ceiling glazing and timber louvres divide the spaces, which open onto terraces on every level.
Outside, a timber deck wraps around the infinity pool, which faces the view, while retaining walls resolve the slope of the plot.
